Introducing this Blog
At 65 years old and after more than 40 years of Christian pilgrimage in various denominations I feel strongly prompted by the Holy Spirit to begin to teach the basics of prayer and intercession online using a blog, Facebook Group, ecourses, podcast, , and video. Lord willing this will lead to an online community and an online course.
Most Christians understand that prayer is important. Most know that there is much room for improvement in their prayer life.
Unfortunately, very few local churches teach prayer and intercession. It is not taught much in Bible Colleges or Seminary.
Thankfully there are some great books on prayer. There are a few websites that teach prayer and bring together those who pray.
The ones who pray the most are typically mothers and older women.

It has been my observation that men pray very little contrasted to the huge responsibilities that they face.
The great tragedy of our time is that the young people who go to college are assaulted by all kinds of carnal temptations. The prevailing attitude of academia is anti-Christian and hyper secularism. What does this portend for the next generation of parents, families, community leaders and church membership?
I have an overabundance of lessons that I desire to teach online. I could easily create 100 hours of lessons. But I have felt blocked for many years. The only way I have made it this far is that dozens of people have been praying for me.
My personal prayer life is small and weak. I have struggled for decades to pray better without much progress.
I have been preaching offline about grace and faith as they relate to prayer. Those lesson keep opening up to me as I start to recognize the vast treasures in the Bible on associated topics.
I have published dozens of teaching articles online. I have passionately preached many times offline. But this new direction is very different. It takes into the arena of spirituality that is not the same as the mind and emotions.

The name of the podcast and blog is Let’s Pray Better. The purpose is to train believers in why and how to pray more effectively. It is an invitation for Christians to join me in gradually and gracefully improving our prayer lives. I will use a blend of Bible teachings, exhortations, inspirations, challenges and testimonies of answered prayers to fuel our journey. I will interview many people that I have met who have experienced major transformations over the years that could only be due to answered prayers.
God used answered prayers during the 1970s to deliver me from alcohol and drug abuse as well as promiscuity.
My life has been bountifully blessed due to the thousands of times that God has answered the prayers of others over the last 4 decades.
The most valuable and long lasting service that I can provide to the greater body of Christ is to educate those that God connects me with in the art and science of prayer. Due to my complex pilgrimage through many Christian traditions what I will have to offer is far wider and deeper than a person would normally encounter.
I have long been an early adapter to online technologies. I have been researching how digital tools can be used to blend online and offline learning.
I humbly request your best prayers as I begin this adventure. I always request prayers for wisdom from God. My ongoing challenge is to improve my time management skills. The single greatest help would be to connect with excellent intercessors and then consistently communicate with them.
Please pray for me briefly now as this material is fresh in your mind. Also kindly commit to pray for me as the Holy Spirit prompts you in the future.
Shalom
Brother John
